Children join Primary 2 at the age of 4 or 5, and embark on an exciting musical journey where their listening, singing, playing, reading, writing, and creating skills are developed in a fun and nurturing environment. In addition to the unique musical experiences that only group lessons can offer, such as performing in front of peers or participating in ensembles, children further refine their individuality and musical abilities through detailed performance instruction in individual lessons.

Yamaha’s “Timely Education” Fosters the Development of Skills During Optimal Growth Period
Children go through key stages of development where certain abilities flourish. By aligning lessons with these natural growth phases, Yamaha helps nurture skills at the optimal time.

What Are 4 and 5-Year-Olds Like?
4 and 5-year-olds are in a phase of “increasing self-expression.” Engaging in activities like listening to, singing, and playing music during this stage exposes them to a rich variety of high-quality music, an ideal foundation for developing imagination and creativity.
With Yamaha lessons tailored to this important window, their listening skills are nurtured through a blend of playful and structured activities. Through singing and piano practice, they begin to recognize notes like Do-Re-Mi by ear, laying a strong foundation for future musical growth.

Skills That Go Beyond Music
In addition to mastering keyboard skills, children cultivate “non-cognitive skills” such as cooperation, social skills, perseverance, and concentration through Yamaha’s lessons.
Music for Life
A defining feature of the Yamaha Primary Course is Yamaha’s unique method, where children learn each song through four steps: “Listening,” “Singing,” “Playing,” and “Reading.” Through engaging piano activities, they build essential musical skills, express themselves creatively, and develop a lifelong enjoyment of music.
Guided by Certified Yamaha Teachers

Group Lessons
Children learn effectively in a group through making music in ensemble, performing in front of a friendly audience and experiencing the joy of making music together.

Comprehensive Education
Yamaha develops well-rounded musicians with good aural and rhythmic sense. Students are able to do more than just playing an instrument. As they mature in the program, children can improvise and compose their own music with ease.
