As a former Yamaha student currently studying Music and Concurrent Education at Queen’s University, I doubt I’d be here if it weren’t for the solid musical foundation I received from Yamaha. I was involved in Yamaha programs from the ages of 3-16, and the Yamaha teaching method was instrumental in developing my musicianship. In addition, part of what inspired me to go into Concurrent Education was working as a practice coach– it was an amazing experience to get to work with young children and help them learn.
Achilles has grown from a little boy who had to climb to the bench to play his piano to a teenager who is composing his own music. Yamaha played a fundamental role in making music a part of his life. As a parent, there are no words to express how much I’ve enjoyed watching him exploring his learning journey under Yamaha’s guidance. I can’t thank the school enough for enriching our lives in such an important and beautiful way.
Junior Original Concert is the best thing any Yamaha student can have, what a rich performing experience it is for a child in that tender age. We still remember and appreciate all the good things everybody at Yamaha did for us. It was 10 years of fun and excellent learning experience for my daughter; something she’ll remember and cherish for the rest of her life. We still talk about it once in a while and she feels that her ties are still strong with Yamaha as she still goes to the school for lessons every Saturday when she’s not racing as a competitive swimmer.
We sometimes make our own music pieces and when we have no idea how to do it, our teacher never tells us “do it like this” or gives us the answer. That’s why we have to think of it ourselves and learn ourselves. I have to think really hard and come up with my own music. I really, really have to use my head but I learn a lot of new things so I like it. It’s like a treasure hunt and going on a mission to find it. It makes me happy.
We love the Yamaha curriculum and think that you are a fantastic teacher. I agree with you about the Ear Training program. Grace has really improved her pitch recognition this year. She is able to play piano on her own and it is often the first thing she does when she wakes up or gets home from school. Thank you for giving her a great start in music.
Ms. Maki engages the children for the entire class and keeps learning music fun. I strongly recommend the Yamaha Music School to every parent.
As a family, we have been associated with the Yamaha Music School for many years. We see the absolute benefit of the education system in the basic foundation of our children. We have had the good fortune of being in Ms. Vanessa Hsu’s class for 3 years now – and truly appreciate the enthusiasm as well as the knowledge she brings to the class. She inspires the children to want to do their music homework – which is not always easy. She inspires the children to express themselves musically. We look forward to continuing making music and keeping it as an integral part of life.
We have enrolled our 3 year old into “Music Wonderland” with teacher Vanessa Hsu, and it has been a fun and transforming experience. We have watched our daughter, and her classmates, gain confidence in themselves as their rhythm improved. Initially quiet children, unsure of their voice and actions, have come out of their shell and enjoy participating in the creative class activities planned out by Vanessa. This is definitely a class to look forward to every week.
We loved Ms Ruby since day one! She’s an amazing teacher. She is very patient and enthusiastic and her passion for teaching music inspires her younger students. She made my daughter fall in love with music!
Our instructor, Ruby Chung, has been consistently excellent in JMC1 and Music Wonderland- firm classroom management, and great individual connection to give our daughter attention and focus. Ruby really motivates her to practice and improve, and it’s a pleasure to see and participate.
Ms. Ruby is a wonderful teacher for children’s music lessons. Her classes are full of funs. My daughter likes her a lot. She’s patient and encouraging to the little ones and constantly has interactions with the little ones and parents. Ms. Ruby is very responsible and closely connected with our parents. I highly recommend Yamaha and Ms. Ruby to my friends.
We have been with Ms. Ruby’s class since Music Wonderland and now we are on JMC 3! My daughter loves Ms. Ruby’s style of teaching and her patience towards the students. She ensures the children follow her and have fun as well. She’s just an amazing piano teacher!
My daughter started with Ms. Ruby in JMC1 will be completing JMC4 this year. When she started, my daughter was so shy. She refused to go up to the front of the room with the rest of the students to sing. Ms. Ruby was patient and created such a safe atmosphere in the class that before the end of the year, my daughter was performing both in front of the class as well as in the year-end concert. In addition to being warm and friendly, Ms. Ruby is very professional, talented, and skilled as she will provide additional enrichment activities for the students that make learning music all the more fun. Thank you Ms. Ruby for providing my daughter with such an excellent foundation and experience. It has been a wonderful four years. Please know that you’re appreciated!
My daughter has been absolutely enjoying her group lesson for almost 2 years with Mr. KB Yeo. Mr. Yeo is a fantastic teacher who is not only a great musician himself but also a master of teaching music to young children and their parents. Mr. Yeo acknowledges each student’s strength and weakness in his class and provides guidance to both students and parents. Mr. Yeo is very engaging for students to focus certain tasks. He is also one of the funniest teachers we have ever met and his class is always carried in lots of laughter, too!
Mr. Yeo is a very experienced music teacher. My daughter has learned music with Mr. Yeo for more than 5 years now. She benefited a lot from the teacher for her composition and improvisation. I have my deepest appreciation to Mr. Yeo for his hard working and help.

Mr. K.B. Yeo has been teaching my daughter for two years now. His passion for teaching really comes through in his classes and he challenges his students all the time to have discipline and to be the best they can be. We are very lucky to have him as our teacher. Thanks Mr. Yeo!

The Yamaha program is well thought out and includes all aspects of music. It is fun and my children enjoy it.
